Back in September, we attended Spring Activator‘s VanImpact event during Vancouver Start-Up Week. Packed with entrepreneurs and changemakers on the brink of the next big thing, we were psyched to be there!
Kudos to Spring Activator for putting together a fantastic selection of speakers and panels that captured the essence of social impact on so many levels. Some of our favourites included the Founder of Thirst Project, Seth Maxwell, CEO & Founder of Vanhawks, Sohaib Zahid, and Lab Lead of UNICEF Innovation, Blair Palmer. They were infectious in their boundless determination to persevere and they’re such passionate changemakers working to succeed and care for people, planet, and profit.
The role of B Corporations was noted during the panel on “How to Measure Impact”. We’re proud to be a founding Canadian B Corp – it represents our mission to be a more sustainable company and to do more good in the world. Today, there is a growing community of more than 1,000 Certified B Corps from 33 countries and over 60 industries working together toward 1 unifying goal: to redefine success in business.
In the afternoon, there were breakout sessions to spend more time with the experts—picking their brains, generating dialogue, and connecting with like-minded people.
The full day conference was smartly fuelled by Matchstick Coffee, who did a spectacular job of energizing the crowds and doing so with ease and cheer. Amoda Tea also served delicious tea for those non-coffee drinkers.
Van Impact is an excellent opportunity to connect, learn, and find resources to support entrepreneurial dreams of starting a new business. It’s great to see all these amazing people supporting each other. We definitely left the day feeling inspired and ready to change the world.
