Welcome to episode 15 of the Fairware Changemaker Series, where we highlight entrepreneurs and thought leaders that continuously inspire us through their passion for using business to better the world.
On this episode we feature Karla Peckett, Creative Director at SOLE/ReCORK a company inspiring positive environmental change using recycled cork. Watch below to learn more about Karla’s journey with the company and what being a changemaker means to her.
Tell us how you got started with SOLE/ReCORK
I started with SOLE/ReCORK about four years ago when I was looking for a company that aligned with my personal values around giving back and sustainability. And finding somewhere I could do footwear design didn’t hurt!
What is ReCORK?
We started ReCORK in 2008, which is now North America’s largest wine cork recycling program. We collect wine corks across North America, grind them down, and turn them into consumer-friendly products. At SOLE/ReCORK, we take the planet and people into account with our company ethos, values, and product design.
What does being a changemaker mean to you?
Being a changemaker means not accepting status quo and leading by example. It means tapping into your networks and bringing together great people who can cause change in the right way.
Thank you to Karla for showing us around and sharing your time with us! We’re stoked to know changemakers like you.
